U16 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

U16 Scholarship

ROB BOSINGER SKI SCHOLARSHIP - $2500 per gender

The scholarship is in memory of Rob Bosinger, a coach and mentor of U16 skiers over the years, who died suddenly of cardiac arrhythmia on May 20th, 2005. Funds are raised each year during the Head to Head Race Series; this year’s race events will be held at Mt Norquay on April 8 & 9. Scholarships will be awarded following the Kinder Cup awards on April 9. The winners of the scholarships will be U16 ski racers who exemplify the qualities that Rob stood for: passion for the sport, ambition and courage, combined with talent and accomplishment, in pursuit of excellence in ski racing in Alberta.

The applicant must be entering FIS in the following season, and must be a member of an Alberta registered club. If the club is not in Alberta, extenuating circumstances must be provided.

Two Rob Bosinger Ski Scholarships are awarded each year to assist in meeting the costs of ski racing: one to a talented young male ski racer and one to a talented young female ski racer. Candidates will hold a National Card, members of Alberta Alpine and be born in 2007 and 2006.

SKI CANADA MAGAZINE AWARD - $ TBD

This award is designated for U14 & U16 aged athletes with the potential to rise to the top of ski racing in Canada. The award is distributed by the Ski Canada Fund, a pool of funds accumulated through commissions paid on the use of the Bank of Montreal Master Card. Applications must be submitted to Alberta Alpine.

An award is extended annually to one male and one female athlete in every province. The amount awarded will be determined at a later date and awarded in the spring.

Deadline for Rob Bosinger Ski Scholarship: March 27
Deadline for applications: April 30

SELECTION PROCESS

All applications are reviewed by an independent Awards and Scholarships Committee. Selected recipients will be notified by e-mail or phone. Successful applicants will be recognized on Alberta Alpine’s website, newsletter and social media. All decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final. Financial output is a given as athletes advance in sport, therefore it is not one of the criteria on which awards are based.
