WHY THE FUND EXISTS
ALBERTA ALPINE LEGACY FUND
Alberta has a proud history of excellence in alpine ski racing. Our athletes, coaches, clubs, volunteers, and families have built a culture that has helped Albertans compete and succeed on the world stage. The Alberta Alpine Legacy Fund is the next step in protecting and strengthening that legacy.
The Fund is intended to create a stable, long-term source of support for the sport in our province. While annual fundraising remains important, a legacy fund adds something different: permanence. It allows donors to help build a financial foundation that can continue supporting Alberta Alpine and the broader ski racing community well into the future.
This is about more than funding a season. It is about helping ensure that alpine ski racing in Alberta remains strong, accessible, ambitious, and sustainable for decades to come.

HOW THE FUND WORKS
Gifts are contributed to
the fund.
Donations help build the Fund’s capital base and support a long- term vision for the sport.
The Fund is overseen with discipline.
The Fund is operated by an independent board of directors with formal governance, board oversight, and an investment policy that is reviewed regularly.
Support is distributed thoughtfully.
Over time, distributions are intended to support Alberta Alpine in line with the Fund’s long term goals, balancing current needs with long-term sustainability.
The end goal of being able to support the full annual budget of Alberta Alpine in Perpetuity.
STEWARDSHIP AND GOVERNANCE
The Fund has been designed with governance and continuity in mind. The goal is to combine strong alignment with Alberta Alpine’s mission and future needs with the kind of structure and oversight that gives donors confidence.
GOVERNANCE APPROACH
The governance approach emphasizes a lean board, staggered terms, independent directors, annual review of mandate and policy, and clear responsibility for investment oversight and fundraising leadership. The intent is to build a durable structure that can steward the Fund responsibly over time.
For donors, that matters. A legacy gift should be matched by a legacy standard of stewardship.
IMPACT
A stronger financial foundation can help Alberta Alpine support athletes, clubs, coaches, development pathways, and the broader systems that allow the sport to thrive.
The long-term vision is simple: create a source of support that helps reduce funding pressure, improves continuity, and gives future generations of Alberta skiers greater opportunity to pursue excellence.

Will donations be spent immediately?
The purpose of the Fund is long-term support. Distribution decisions are expected to be made in line with approved policies of the Fund, balancing current needs and long-term sustainability.
