ALBERTA ALPINE COACH DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAM
OVERVIEW
The focus of the Alberta Alpine Coach Development and Education Program is the enhancement coaching skills and competencies through courses offered by Alberta Alpine and its partners. Alberta Alpine believes that excellent coaching is integral to superior program delivery at all levels, from entry level to high performance and is critical the achievement of our objectives as a vibrant winter sport organization.
DELIVERY PARTNERS AND ROLES
ALBERTA ALPINE SKI ASSOCIATION (AASA)
Alberta Alpine provides continuing education courses to support coaches towards their full ACA/CSCF Licenses, and provide learning resources for coaches, clubs and parents throughout Alberta.
These programs and courses offered by Alberta Alpine include but are not limited to:

- CSCF conditioning seminars
- CSCF Speed Camp

As a partner in education Alberta Alpine is fully committed to facilitating the design and implementation of in house club based training in support of ACA/CSCF Licensing and continuing education and mentoring for coaches.
ALBERTA ALPINE IS COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING:
CANADIAN SKI COACHES FEDERATION (CSCF)
The Federation is recognized by Alpine Canada Alpin and the Coaching Association of Canada as the official coach training and certification body for alpine skiing. The CSCF designs and delivers fully integrated (theory, technical, and practical) certification programs for Entry (EL), Development (DL), and Performance (PL) coaching. The CSCF also designs and delivers the sport specific portion of the Elite Coach (HPC) program.
In addition, the CSCF provides continuing education courses for CSCF ‘Trained' coaches towards coach ‘Certified', and ‘Certified Advanced' qualifications, and ongoing educational resources for coaches, athletes, and parents.
ALPINE CANADA ALPIN (ACA)
Alpine Canada supports coach education through its Coach Education Director and also makes its key ACA technical and sport science staff available for coach education projects. The CSCF is the key provider of coach education for ACA, providing CAST interface opportunities for coaches and coach mentoring.

Canadian Sport for Life is the vehicle to promote the LONG TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT MODEL (LTAD). The LTAD was the backbone for the development of sport specific ALPINE INTEGRATION MODEL (AIM 2 WIN).
LTAD focuses on the general framework of athlete development with special reference to growth, maturation and development, trainability, and sport system alignment and integration. It incorporates information from a number of sources. It draws on the experiences of various athlete development projects that have been implemented by different sport organizations.
NATIONAL COACHING INSTITUTE - Calgary
The National Coaching Institute Calgary is closely linked to the National Sport Centre Calgary and is able to access internationally respected experts in the fields of sport science, practical coaching, and coach education. Continuing education seminars for certified high performance and elite level coaches are presented throughout the year.
The NCI offers a wide variety of sport science courses leading to Elite Coach (level 4) certification. Fully certified High Performance coaches who are approved by their sport governing body and accepted by the NCI can enrol in the Elite Coach program on a full-time or part-time basis.

The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation (ASPRWF) is a facilitator and a promoter of athlete, coach, and club participation and development. ASRPWF is here to enhance sport, recreation,park and wildlife opportunities throughout Alberta.
COACHING ASSOCIATION OF CANADA (CAC)
The CAC administers the National Coaching Certification Program across Canada and provides guidance and resources to all sports in the design and delivery of certification courses and continuing education courses for coaches at all levels. The CAC also provides learning resources for coaches, parents, and clubs.
COACHES OF CANADA
Coaches of Canada is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the profession of coaching, and to advance the contribution coaches make to individuals, teams, communities and society.
THE CANADIAN CENTRE FOR ETHICS IN SPORT (CCES)
The CCES provides guidance and learning resources to coaches, athletes, and parents on ethics in sport, with particular emphasis on banned substances, doping control, and nutritional supplements.
