Team Alberta had a very strong showing during the first leg of the Canada Games at Nakiska. The first two days of competition saw Lebsack and Richardson trading places as they each took home a silver and bronze in the SG and GS. Timmermann and Fergusson were able to add to the medal count on Wednesday in the SL as they both walked away with silver medals.
The depth of this team is incredible and while some athletes may have experienced some of the heartbreak that we all know ski racing is capable of. Upon reflecting on their performances during this event, every athlete will have a performance to be proud of and know they have grown as both athletes and people.
I can say with confidence that we had the deepest pool of athletes at these games and the future of ski racing in Alberta is healthy!
I’d like to thank the ROC from NASA and the countless number of volunteers that braved the cold to provide the athletes with a great race track and experience every day.
Next up for the team is a trip to Red Deer for the Ski Cross that will take place at Canyon on Saturday.
