It is the responsibility of Alberta Alpine Member Ski Clubs to make sure their club coaches;

  1. pay their CSCF DUES (via canskicoach.org)
  2. are fully LICENSED (via canskicoach.org)
    1. ED & RM credits
    2. Signatures – Coaches Code of Conduct & Renewal Waiver
    3. Background check
  3. are a REGISTERED MEMBER of your club and Alberta Alpine (via Zone4)

Program and Executive Directors have access to the “backside” of canskicoach.org,  and can check the status of their coaches. If you require a username & password, please contact coach@alpinecanada.org.

If coaches have CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructors Association) & CSCF (Canadian Ski Coaches Federation), they need to pay dues via snowpro.com AND then go into canskicoach.org to sign their CSCF code of conduct and renewal notice.

Many active coaches in the province are not yet fully licensed members in good standing. A large portion of these coaches are simply missing an online signature or two. Please see below the many different ways in which you can get in the Green.

Ways to correct the different missing components to become a licensed member in good standing:

  • Education credits – often the club has not entered their licensing event, encourage clubs to register their licensing events ASAP. Coaches can also send in via email to coach@alpinecanada.org a copy of their certification of completion for sports-related, first aid/CPR and respect in sport for activity leader modules and we can manually update the transcripts. If they are in need of a quick course, we have several online eLearning modules available on www.canskicoach.org and there are inexpensive/free eLearning modules at www.coach.ca that can be accessed by signing into their NCCP Locker profile.
  • Risk management credits – if a coach has undertaken staff training on-hill or anything safety related on-hill the club can enter in the credit hour. The training must be at least an hour long and pertain mostly to on-hill safety. Please note, the Respect in Sport Activity Leader module will grant the 1 RM credit as well. The Risk Management eLearning module provides a risk management credit and can be found at www.canskicoach.org.
  • Missing signature on renewal waiver – have the coach sign into their member profile on http://www.canskicoach.org/. A pop-up window should prompt them to the location where they can sign the annual renewal waiver.
  • Missing signature on the code of conduct – have the coach sign into their member profile on http://www.canskicoach.org/. A pop-up window should prompt them to the location where they can sign the coach code of conduct.
  • Missing a completed background check in the database – have the coach sign into their member profile on www.canskicoach.org and follow the links that will take the coach to Sterling Backcheck. Please note, it takes up to 48 hours for the background check to process.

For any questions on the above processes, please direct the coaches to email: coach@alpinecanada.org and Greg and Jenni will respond as quickly as possible.
