Canmore, AB – After a search that included many excellent candidates, Alberta Alpine Ski Association is excited to announce that Gavin Preziosi will join the organization in the role of Provincial Program Director.

Gavin brings to the role 18 years of coaching experience, which has allowed him to coach at events in all ten provinces, and Yukon Territory. Gavin is a CSC Performance Level Certified Coach, and has worked at the club, Provincial Team, and Program Director level, most recently at the Vancouver Ski Team, where he created the positive and collaborative change needed to set the storied club in a new direction.
Preziosi provided the following statement: “For as long as I can remember skiing has been a huge part of my life. Growing up racing at the cold Smokey Mountain in Labrador City, ski racing as provided me with the opportunity to be a part of events across the entire country.

Throughout my coaching career, I have learned a lot about myself, but more importantly I have learned how much coaches can influence the well being of aspiring ski racers, both on and off the hill.

Alberta has an impressive history in alpine and ski cross, world-class training facilities, and some of the best and most experienced coaches in the business. Together, we have all the necessary resources to provide our athletes with a clear path to excellence.

The work behind the scenes, clear objectives, and synchronicity will provide us with an excellent product on-snow. In-turn, proper execution allows us the privilege to work with inspired and enthusiastic athletes, coaches, families, volunteers, and sponsors.

I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to building relationships, collaborating with the clubs and providing Alberta Alpine racers of all ages the best experience our beautiful sport has to offer.”

Alberta Alpine President Rob McCloskey added, “Gavin has both the experience and technical knowledge required to lead our province, paired with the positive, supportive, and collaborative personality needed to unite our vision, goals, and provide opportunities for every athlete training and competing at an Alberta Alpine member club. This role will not come without challenges, but I encourage everyone in our community to welcome Gavin, and to work with him for the betterment of alpine and ski cross programs in Alberta.”

Gavin has relocated from Squamish, BC, to Calgary, and will begin full-time with Alberta Alpine on August 1st, 2018.
