ALBERTA ALPINE ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT

CANMORE, AB – After completing a thorough search for the new leader, Alberta Alpine is excited to welcome Rob McCloskey as the new President of the organization, effective May 1st, 2018.

“We are thrilled Rob McCloskey will join the organization and lead us into our next chapter,” said Joanne Gray, Chair of the Board. “A big thank you to our hiring committee, made up of Alberta Alpine Board Members, for their time, energy & expertise. The number of highly qualified individuals that applied was impressive and we are pleased that the board unanimously accepted the recommendation to hire Rob”.

McCloskey joins Alberta Alpine after two years with Alpine Canada as Manager of Official Suppliers and eCommerce, where he dramatically increased revenues and built solid partnerships for ACA. Rob brings a strong vision for Alberta Alpine with the leadership style of communication and collaboration. With the guidance of a new Alberta Alpine Strategic Plan, Rob will enhance and enrich for our entire operations from our youngest skiers to the Alberta Ski Team to strengthen our business operations.

Alberta Alpine’s Board of Directors are working together with Rob and will soon announce the new four year strategy. The new strategy is based on the input of hundreds of our athletes, parents, coaches and other stakeholders. Alberta Alpine welcomes you to connect with Rob in the coming weeks.

Originally from Charlottetown, PEI, Rob grew up racing for the PEI Alpine Ski Team in the Ski New Brunswick circuit. After completing his undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University, Rob returned to PEI to start his career in real-estate development and was Head Coach for the PEI Alpine Ski Team for eight seasons. Rob went on to complete his MBA at the University of Prince Edward Island before relocating to Calgary to join the team at Alpine Canada’s head office.

“I’m humbled by the passionate and supportive ski racing community in Alberta, my proud adopted home, and am motivated by the challenges and opportunities presented by this exciting opportunity. I look forward to traveling the province to meet with clubs, volunteers, parents, coaches and supporters of ski racing in all corners of Alberta”.

The next big event for Alberta Alpine is the Quest for Gold Golf Tournament, which is set for May 28th, 2018 at Silvertip Golf Resort in Canmore Alberta.
