This past week, the Alberta Ski Team began preseason training at our home hill of Nakiska. Despite the frigid temperatures, the training has been stellar. After spending three weeks in Europe, it’s definitely exciting to be back on home snow. Being away is always an exciting experience, but it is so nice to be home, sleeping in my own bed with home cooking. We have had plenty of mileage on the long skis, with a GS block and a Super G block over the past two weeks. Next week, we will be spending some time on the shorter skis, which I am looking forward to. The new team and coaching staff is beginning to come together.
The Alberta Ski Team has just wrapped up the Canadian Rockies Ski Racing Hall of Fame event which is an important fundraising function and social evening on November 8th. Thank you to all the parents who solicited for donations who volunteered, Nigel and the Alberta Ski Team staff, all the sponsors that came out, and to everyone who attended the successful event. Mr. Bell and Mr. Read did a spectacular job co-hosting the event as well. A big congratulation to the four inductees: John Cassels as honored lifetime builder, Glenn Thomsen as an honored AST alumnus, Don Boyce as honored lifetime official and Randy Tarchuk as honored lifetime volunteer. It was a great opportunity for the athletes to meet such influential people in Alberta ski racing.
Thank you to everyone for the support,
