Hello parents, ski people, supporters, Marcus here, checking in for my first Alpine Insurance Athlete Journal of the 2017/18 ski season!
Last season ended, right after the Norquay race, due to my sore back that pulled me from spring training. I’ve been taking it easy and doing lots of physiotherapy which has allowed me to get strong again and to come into the summer dryland training program with motivation.
Besides being in the gym twice a day, with our awesome new head coach Thedy, I have been keeping busy doing my summer sport of rock climbing! Climbing to me is the best way to enjoy a day, as well as excellent active rest for the legs! It is also great to keep the sport and problem-solving side of my brain turned on so I can keep working on mental and breathing strategies that help me perform as a skier.
Just being two weeks from our first Saas-Fee camp, I am very exited on our new team of youngsters! I believe we have a very fun, yet hardworking group of individuals who love to share excitement and experience with each other to create a strong team that will find great success this season! All I can say is I’m fired up to ski with you guys and thank you to the people that support our team. There will be more updates when we arrive on snow! It’s going to be a fun season to spectate.
