Hello! I hope all of you are starting to de-frost now that the weather has finally started to warm up, cause I know the team is sure enjoying the change.
The Alberta Ski Team has started off the new year in two groups, Meg, Georgia, Mike, Keegan, Liam and I started off in Vermont with some nor-ams and local FIS races in Mont Sainte-Anne, while the rest of the group stayed home and got some quality training in at Nakiska. The weather in Vermont during the Nor-Ams was definitely an experience none of us will forget, as we dealt with rain, hail, lightning, thunder, heavy snow and wind.
We really had every weather system go through in a 4 day series, but all the boys fought through it and ended up qualifying for some second runs. Unfortunately during the final slalom race Mike was unable to do his second run because they cancelled the race for the final 15 boys because of the weather. As we wrapped up Vermont we started our drive back to Mont Sainte-Anne, where the boys side of the team got smaller, as Liam and myself had to fly back home to Calgary.
Once back home in Calgary Liam got his nose back in the books to get ready for his diploma exams, and I got back into training with the rest of the crew. The training back home was awesome as we were able to get downhill training in at Nakiska with some jumps and rollers made up for the team.
We now have the full crew back together as the guys out east flew in a few days ago. Bringing us into a great couple days of GS training before we head to Lake Louise for a 4 day race series.
Thanks for the read!
