Once again the Alpine Insurance Alberta Ski Team did their Annual Mountain Dryland Camp this past week. This year the summer training group did four days of training in Canmore and Panorama with a focus on participating in some new activities, team building and having fun. The camp started with two days in Canmore with the group doing some conditioning sessions at CrossFit Canmore, indoor climbing at Elevation Place and hiking Mount Lady MacDonald. Many thanks to Corrine and Bruce Legree for hosting a mid camp BBQ for the team at their home on Friday evening – fueling up both athletes and coaches before they headed back out to work.
The camp wrapped up this past weekend with two days of downhill mountain biking in the bike park at Panorama Mountain Resort. The camp was a huge success as all the athletes had the chance to get to know each other better and experience many new activities. Team captain, Ben Legree nominated team rookies Liam Wallace and Kelvin Cochrane the campers of the week as they pushed the group hard in the conditioning sessions and were always up to trying new activities.
The team is now back in the gym at Peak Power for the next four weeks and look forward to their next camp in Saas Fee, Switzerland starting August 8th.
