Alberta Alpine Athletics Manager Sue Schwartz is at Whistler Cup with Team Alberta and checked in with this update.
“Today was a tough morning for the men’s SL competitors, some soft conditions there made for large ruts however Team Alberta had 5 athletes in the afternoon race. Taylor Dods was slaying his first run but just a tiny bit too straight made it a day for him when he went out. A highlight for the afternoon on the boys was Daniel Harrison with a 5th place in the 2nd run. All the boys (Topham 31st) made the flip for run 2 and that was a feat in itself.
The girls had a good day with Haley and Kiki were gunning it the first run however with a tiny error and a bump in the course, both went out. Tora and Kamilia made great gains and all the girls moved up from their start positions by a mile. They charged hard and were in a good mindset. It was impressive how they stayed focused and wanted to go faster. We’re holding our own with the Norwegians, charging and trying to be right there with them. The athletes are giving their all and we’re ready for a big day tomorrow. ”
