February 26, 2016 (Blue Mountain, ON) – Liam Wallace (SUNSH) earned a second slalom podium with his silver medal finish at today’s National Junior Race at Blue Mountain. Adrien Grabinski (SUNSH) was also on the podium, winning the bronze medal. Close behind was Sam Wall (BANFF) in 4th, Ryan Webster (BANFF) 6th and Kelvin Cochrane (BANFF) 9th. Other Alberta men in the top 30 were Sean Terry (CARC) 25th and Carson Cook (SNOW) 26th.

Stephanie Profitt again led the Alberta women, finishing in 4th place, while Zoe Belczyk (AST) took 8th and Nakia Kamachi (CARC) was 9th. Other Alberta women in the top 30 today were: Tia Kattler (BANFF) in 20th, Jacquelyn Proc (SUNSH) 23rd, Kalli Van Der Voort (BANFF) 26th and Sydney Salverda (SUNSH) 28th.

The group of 26 athletes who made the trip to Collingwood will head home today with coaches Jen Claridge, Matt Carss, Luke Patterson and Cam Stephen.

February 25, 2016 (Blue Mountain, ON) – Liam Wallace (SUNSH) and Carson Cook (SNOW) are the top two U18 male slalom racers in the country today. They skied to first and second places respectively at the U18 Canadian Championships at Blue Mountain/Toronto Ski Club. Marcus Holm (BANFF) took 4th place, missing the bronze medal by one – one hundredth of a second, and Sam Wall (BANFF) took 9th position. Other men in the top 30 were Kelvin Cochrane (BANFF) with 14th, Sean Terry (CARC) with 27th and Dawson Hill (PANO) with 28th.

Stephanie Profitt (SUNSH), currently skiing with Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont, won women’s silver, leading the Alberta women to three top 10 finishes. Nakia Kamachi (CARC) and Zoe Belczyk (AST) earned 6th and 10th respectively. Other women in the top 30 were all from the Banff Alpine Racers club:  Caitie Brown placed 14th, Kalli Van Der Voort placed 18th, Michelle Rufener placed 28th and and Tia Kattler placed 30th.

Meanwhile, yesterday was the second of two GS races for men. The second women’s GS was cancelled due to weather. First races were the designated Canadian Championships with Kelvin Cochrane taking men’s bronze. Official results Men’s GS Day 2
